Better Shape and Appearance?

What is Cellulite?

The dimpled and streaked appearance of skin caused by cellulite can appear on even the most superbly slim bodies - it is therefore not by itself a function of obesity, or a "weight problem."

Hollywood dermatologist Howard Murad, MD, says: "... because cellulite is not a fat problem, it's a skin problem. It has nothing to do with what you weigh, or how much weight you lose." *1

Cellulite is quite unlike the fat that causes obesity which lies at far deeper tissue levels of the body - it is a characteristic of how fat cells within the skin are locked in by a matrix of fibrous tissue bands called septa.

At younger ages the normally elastic septa function well in keeping dermal fat cells anchored within the deeper skin layers. As we age however, and typically a problem of women approaching the age of around thirty-five, septa lose elasticity and, becoming hardened and more rigid, thrust down on the buoyant fatty cells which partially protrude beyond the network of septa, causing the unattractive "lumpy orange peel" effect.

The characteristics of septa are genetically controlled, and therefore show a strong inheritance pattern. Effectively therefore, the potential for cellulite is passed on from mother to daughter. Although their septa structure is different in men and women, both can suffer from cellulite. In women, septa run in a vertical pattern while in men the pattern is diagonal. With the vertical female pattern the protruding cellulite cells typically create the well-known "tufted mattress" effect.

Cellulitic fat cannot be "burned" metabolically like other biological fuel, no matter how much weight you lose or exercise you perform and in fact it is regarded not to yield to liposuction.

The good news is that there is now an effective technique to address this problem. Special creams containing skin-penetrating carrier and active ingredients that once there, metabolise the fat by lipolysis - fat-burning - progressively melting it away and minimising the effect over several treatments.

At the same time, it is important that you feed your skin from the inside to optimise its health and tone with a balanced and nutritious diet, and vitamin / mineral supplements.

Slimming program

 A few tips on how you can make your weight loss program more successful:

1. Eat healthily

  •  Breakfast    Early morning:

    Seasonal fruit salad – 1 cup (1 ½)  or  Fresh seasonal fruit from one type

    as much as you like.

  •  Breakfast    Mid morning:

    Seasonal fruit salad – 1 cup (1 ½)  or  Fresh seasonal fruit from one type as much as you like.

  •  Lunch:

    Sportron Shake or Protein Bar

    + Large Salad with vegetables from Group A

  •  3 hours after lunch:

    1 Fresh seasonal fruit

  •  Dinner:

Option 1: 

Cooked Lean meat or Chicken - no skin; or Fish, or Cottage cheese 80 (100)g, or ½ cup of nuts,

 

+ Large Salad with Vegetables from Group A

 

   

Option 2: 

Cooked Potato or Brown rice, or Pasta 150 (200) g

2. Supplements

Supplements are essential when losing weight! Why?

You feel craving for food because your body doesn’t receive all ingredients it needs … and it craves for more food. The result is – you eat less, you are not always hungry anymore and you lose weight!

3. Water

It is very important to drink a minimum 8 cups (2 litres of water) per day. Two litres ensure weight maintenance, more than 2 litres is for fat and cellulite loss. The elimination of fatty components is activated by water in the blood stream. No water, no elimination!

Water beads help you to remember how much water you drink (R35).

                 4. Exercises

You are welcome to choose any exercise regime that suits you.
